Major Moscow's Assaults Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and faced interruptions to drinking water, per reports from city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was lost their life in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has intensified attacks on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and applying penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Several of the people hurt in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the city endured intense attacks throughout the evening. A young boy died and three other people were hurt.

The strikes succeed nights of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The whole nation is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to detect.

National leaders told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting energy systems.

He said utility staff and officials were bracing for more assaults.
